Welcome to Team Barton with Mrs Bronwyn Selfe. We have a very exciting and productive year ahead of us all. We will be setting our own personal goals to strive towards each semester as our class motto is ‘Dream – Believe - Achieve.’ We will display these goals to ensure we stay motivated this year.
I am looking forward to working with your child and setting expectations for class work and behaviour. I will be testing children to get a thorough understanding of where each child is in order to deliver meaningful programs for all students. The children will be given clear expectations in regards to Stage 3 behaviour and expected book work for Year 5/6 and I am sure they will easily adapt to these standards.
This semester Stage 3 will be studying The Australian Colonies in History, Forces and Energy in Science and we will be undertaking a STEM unit on Toys using a 3D printer. Maths will be class based this year with all students catered for their individual needs. Throughout our Literacy program students will be working on a range of texts, covering Imaginative, Informative and Persuasive writing.
Homework will be handed out on Monday and is due back each Friday. This will consist of both Literacy and Maths. Homework is an excellent way of your child sharing their work with you, as well as encouraging good study habits. 20 minutes of reading just before ‘lights out’ at night is a great way of ensuring students are reading every day.
The Stage 3 Excursion to Bathurst will be held in Term 4. More information regarding this will be forwarded to you in the near future.
