WELCOME TO GUDUNG - MRS MELISSA RICHARDS
Gudung has had a great start to 2020! The children have settled in very well to our stage 2 classroom and are enjoying their new role as stage 2 students. We have all been getting to know each other and everyone has made some positive new friendships.
We have jointly constructed our new class expectations so that we can have a successful day each day. The expectation in Gudung this year is that children come to school prepared to learn. They always try their personal best, never give up and they display resilience and growth mind set in order to achieve their goals.
In Gudung, I have a strong focus on catering for different interests and abilities, with the belief that we are all great at something! The students have all expressed their preferred learning style and set learning tasks will cater for these.
This year, Stage 2 and 3 (including Gudung) will be participating in the AVID program. AVID is an education program designed to boost the academic results of students regardless of their background or disadvantage. Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) believes that any student, given the right strategies and support, can be prepared for future study and work opportunities. AVID understands that the first step to improving a student’s performance is teaching them how to learn. Rigorous content alone will not bring student success if they are not equipped with the habits and strategies that help them to process and digest information. This is an exciting time for our students, who will taking further positive steps to establish the skills they need to be successful learners.
We are looking forward to some exciting activities and excursions this year. Stay tuned for more information…
